Ilyas and Tallat Ashar brought the girl to UK in May 2000 on a passport which identified her as a 20-year old adult from Pakistan and kept her at their home in Eccles, Salford, where she slept in the cellar.
Ilyas Ashar, 84, was also found guilty of 13 counts of raping the girl, now in her 20s. She was found in 2009.
The couple is expected to be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on October 23.
The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was only found after trading standards officials visited their Cromwell Road home investigating allegations of illegal activity.
She was found in the cellar, which was described as "sparse, cold and damp".
Details of the victim's ordeal only emerged after she was taught sign language, enabling her to be interviewed by police.
Thousands of pounds in benefits were claimed in the victim's name and a number of bank accounts were set up using her details, police said.
Tallat Ashar, 68, was found guilty of trafficking and benefit fraud at an earlier trial, as was her husband.

crime is a crime! no matter where you from or what your back ground maybe,it happens all over the world,there are lot of sick people like these two,they should have been locked up for 20 years each, feel sorry for the girl as she might have thought she was coming to a better life,and ended up with these two.

When reading the facts of the case it puzzled me how an immigration border officer who are very strict in their attention to detail could mistake a 10 year old child for a 20 year old woman. The facts do not seem right.

Why court didn't ask doctors to check if the girl was rapped or not off course if she was in UK at the age of 9 year she must be virgin? and why court was unable to prove that at 1st instance ?. There must be something missing in this story?

A major percentage of crime in UK are done by (ethnic) Pakistanis. Over 0.5% British population are Pakistani (origins), but their crime rate is over 15%. Crime-experts are puzzled and find it difficult to explain fully. Similar situation in several other Europian countries, Canada,etc. In UK, in public, now many Pakistanis identify themself as (ethnic) Indians or Bangladeshi. I think crime experts/ social scientists etc should look deep into Pakistan's recent social culture and norms.

This is not true and the media should be ashamed to print it. On the Eid Day they are trying to malign practicing Muslims. Look at the faces of these good Muslims. How can they be so cruel when they are parents and grandparents? Western judicial system is against Muslims and it is a conspiracy against Muslims in general and Pakistan in particular.
