Robbery: Traders protest against police

Protesters said said seven jewellery shops had been robbed in in one month and police were yet to arrest any suspects.

Dozens of shopkeepers from Hajiabad on Sunday staged a protest demonstration against police’s alleged failure to control robbery incidents.


Nasrullah, one of the protestors, told the media that on Saturday night three armed men took away 70 tolas of gold and Rs3.64 million from Mughal Gold House, a jewellery shop in the area.“When Abdul Hameed [one of the shopkeepers] resisted, the robbers shot a customer Kamran Arshad,” he said. The protestors blocked Sheikhupura Road. They said seven jewellery shops had been robbed in Hajiabad in one month and police were yet to arrest any suspects. The protest ended when Madina Town SP Nasir Sial assured the protestors that the accused would be arrested soon.
