LAHORE:

A man being tried on murder charges was thrown off the second floor of the district and sessions court building on Saturday.

Shahbaz and his brother Imran were accused of murder. They had come to the court to attend proceedings in their plea for interim bail.

The complainants Karamat, Naeem, Shahid, Arif, Qurban, Aslam and Muhammad Ali were also present.

Muhammad Azhar, a witness, told The Express Tribune that when Shahbaz stepped out of the courtroom on the second floor, the complainants grabbed him and beat him.

He said someone suggested they throw him off the balcony.

He said Shahbaz cried for help but nobody came to his rescue.

He said his assailants grabbed his legs and arms and chucked him off the balcony.

He said Shahbaz landed on the ground floor and fractured one of his legs.

He said litigants and court staffers who had also witnessed the spectacle ran towards courtrooms. He said policemen on the scene arrested the assailants and handed them over to Islampura police.

An FIR was registered against the men under Sections 324, 147 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on Shehbaz’s complaint.
