The film wing of the extremist Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNS ) told Sami to leave the country after his visa expires.
"Sami met us at our office here today, seeking our cooperation. We told him to leave the country as his visa has expired," MNS film wing president Amey Khopkar said.
"We told Sami that our priority would be our artistes," Khopkar told PTI.
Sami had reportedly told a family court that he had a Pakistani passport and was residing in India on the basis of visa granted to him from time to time. His visa was reportedly valid from September 26, 2012 till October 6, 2013.

@lalamujahid: But he give Pakistan passport!
@Romm: Oh, sorry! I forgot to add a small piece of information regarding Adnan Sami. For that, watch the following video on YouTube:
'Adnan Sami is originaly from Afghanistan he admits dont miss it'
@Lala Gee: In fact I should thank you for the opportunity. IMO, behind your put-on acerbity lies a keen & inquiring intellect. Too, I thank the great Sanskrit Lexicographer Sir M Monier-Williams.
@Shehzad: I know that you level of education has been that of the effluent of a toilet. India has at least admitted that toilets for the poor is a major issue and the government is working on providing toilets to all. Heard of the govenment’s scheme of Sulabh Sanchalalaya?
As far as Pakistan is concerned you don’t even want to admit that the problem of toilets exist in your country. Just to refresh how severe the problem is in your country, please read this attached article in full. It was published here by Express Tribune not so long ago.
http://tribune.com.pk/story/424180/toilet-facilities–a-luxury-for-most-pakistanis/
@Vishnu Dutta: This stupid man has invested all his money in India and he definitely would lose that. What is there to worry about. Lol... Adnan should not be allowed to get back to Pakistan. Now he should plan singing Vande matram and Sare jahan se acha, Hindustan hamara.
@Rakib:
"@Lala Gee: You are not wrong, but that’s not to say you are right."
Many many thanks for the in-depth explanation. It was very insightful of course.
Yawn....who cares. Adnan Sami Khan is an Indian for all practical purposes. This ain't our problem to begin with.
@Lala Gee: Dont stress your brain over things you cannot comprehend. Stop interpreting hindi words and just focus on issue. Which is adnan has over stayed his visa. He is always welcomed in india, its just a paper work that he needs to do. Let him renew it and thing will be fine. He has invested all his money in india, i am sure he thought of his visa issues already.
@hope for good: Aishwarya need to get her DNA tested or her needs to be interviewed.
This is India's right to protect their artists. Pakistan should also ban Indian drama, shows and films to protect its own industry and artist
@Kami:If that soothe your heart then be happy.As far as the case of women is concerned,our take is different.Aishwarya rai is product of indian genes. @ET mods pl publish this if it doesnt offend you..
@LaLakiMKaa: Okay....so you are talking about Pakistani extremist elements on a blog about a news about Indian extremism (anti muslim elements) and suggesting that India should cut all ties with anyone having a slightest Pakistani link because Pakistan supports extremist groups in its country. So why exactly Indian allows such groups to exist in its country anyway? Groups that by the way have a political cover like BJP in India and you cant just strike against them on some allegations made by a country.
@Rakesh: My foot.
@Dashing pathan: "Btw pakistanis/muslims are generally more talented, creative and good looking than indians, thats why dominate bollywood!"
We, Indian muslims are more talented than Pakistani muslims...get the difference...
@Lala Gee: - your imagination has confirmed as to why Pakistanis are such big inventors of conspiracy theories.
One place where he is not welcome is Pakistan.
@Dashing pathan Pathans are handsome and dashing with Royal looks, but not all Pakistanis. By the way MNS is a powerful organization in Mumbai. My dad was from Mumbai and I speak the local Marathi dialect and I can understand their feelings after the 2008 attacks. But Adnan Sami will stay I think. His wife is of Afghan ethnicity. That is a powerful jack in India. Of course it is the govt which deals with visas, but living in Mumbai is a different ball game and I believe Adnan wants to live there.
@Dashing pathan: Btw pakistanis/muslims are generally more talented, creative and good looking than indians, thats why dominate bollywood!
If they are that good, start our own bollywood in Pakisan! Why you come to India for a living ? How can you say Pakistanis/muslims are more talented, creative and good looking than Indians when Indians have almost equal number of Muslims in India ? and also for your kind information, there are better movies made in India than in bollywood.
Even keeping an Indian flag inside your pocket does not make you acceptable for the biggest democracy of the world
Why should Pakistani's care?
@Lala Gee: hahaha r u nut? the word sena used is MNS doesn't means army but the people who are part of that group. With same logic how will you describe "Pakistan Peoples Party"? because meaning of party is group of people gather together to celebrate some things which involved entertainment and food. but in PPP it means political group :-) hope this will help you to clear your confusion about the meaning of Sena in MNS ;-) have a good day!!!
Indian veneer of secularism wearing thin? A secular India or a Hindu Bharat, the facade keeps on changing when it comes to the people of the neighboring country. This is not the sole incident, dozens of such incidence which borders on bigotry did took place over a period of years, involving Pakistani artists, musicians etc. The question remains...should we blame the local artists for visiting India or should we question/condemn the Indian 'Sena' type parties for going overboard.
Here is another such reported incidence.

Its really sad if MNS has decided to throw Sami out of India. For the last so many years Sami has been a peaceful part of the Indian community and also a very talented artist who hardly has rendered any other Indian artist jobless. In fact he is a dedicated disciple of the late RD Burman and so he chose India as his 'Karma Bhumi' for his future. He has not made any controversial statements here or behaved in any manner belittling India. He is also loved and respected by Lataji & Ashaji who have sung songs on his music. Indians love him and do not even consider him a Pakistani national. Then what about Veena Malik and Nargis Fakhri? MNS should rethink on this decision and allow Sami to live in India in future. When India can allow Mother Theressa a foreign national to live and become a part of India why cannot Sami.
Dashing Pathan, IF I convert to Islam, what are the chances of me becoming more talented, creative, good looking than other indians ? Please reply ASAP. I am desperate to make it big in Bollywood.
Didnt he acquire indian citizenship? Btw pakistanis/muslims are generally more talented, creative and good looking than indians, thats why dominate bollywood!
@Lala Gee: Not all are trained to spawn conspiracy theory even after hard thinking. As much you would love to believe, MNS is not as powerful to control Visa issues. So please dont think hard for something which does not exist. Rather use it for better purpose.
@hope for good: well the truth is Indian genes can't produce a girl like veena. No wonder they like her.
@Mc: No harm in that. If he's in India then he should respect India's laws and traditions. No harm at all. Salams. ET is becoming sensational in your reporting. Salams
@Blunt: We r biggest democracy or biggest asylum I am unable to figure out
@Lala Gee: (Would you, or any other Indian, please precisely translate the word “Sena”. If I am not wrong, it means “Army”.)
You are not wrong, but that's not to say you are right. Sanskrit words can have multiple meanings. "Sainya" is very army specific. No arguments there. "Sena" on the other can have different meaning depending on use. 1. If the word "sena' appeared at the end of a name without a break it meant a courtesan. E.g. Vasantsena-Springblossom-was the name of the courtesan in the Sanskrit play of 2nd Century BCE named The Little Clay Cart. (the role was played brilliantly by Rekha in film adaptation:Utsav) 2. It could mean an army, or 3. a small detachment of 3 elephants, 3 chariots,9 horse & 15 foot. And most simply, 4.it also means "a band or body of men", whatever be their purpose.. A smart lawyer of MNS would argue in favour of the last meaning & win. Considering the proclivities of its owners I would opt for the first meaning. But Army? Despite the word's strong association with armed forces, good heavens, no!
Shehzad : But Pakistan beats India hollow on all these counts except terrorism which is the sole owner in the whole world.
Extending facility to citizens of other country to stay without visa or even any document is possible only in PAkistan(DAwood and LAden to quote a few).fortunately this servicece has not yet been launched in India.
@Mia: when visa expires you need to pack your bags. No extremist angle here
@Shehzad: @INDIANS: You cannot deny the fact that Hindu extremists exist, just like you can’t deny the fact that India has a lack of toilets and it’s is a country full of slums which is exporting terrorism to the whole south asia!
Adnan sami is a pakistani citizen wants to over stay in India even after his visa got expired. What does that mean, he prefer India than Pakistan, simple as that! For your information most countries of the world will think twice before issuing a visa to a Pakistani national, you know why ?
MNS is an extremist group?
How many Terror attacks have been even accused of orchestrating?
If you are going to set the bar so low, even MQM(which also bases its politics on ethnicity) is a deadly Terror group. Karachi being the most violent city in the world, this would fit the bill perfectly.
What is "extremist" in this -- did they set off suicide bombs; or did they ask Adnan to convert? They simply asked Adnan to respect the Law of India - to return when his Visa expired. ET - this is shoddy journalism.
@Californian Desi:
"Why would Adnan Sami go to MNS for request to stay? Shouldn’t he approach teh consulate to extend his Visa ?"
Excellent question. I'd say the real essence of the news story. Think bit harder, and you'd know the answer by yourself. However, I suspect you already know the answer, but, like most Indians, lack the dignity and morals to acknowledge it. Why would Adnan go to MNS instead of the relevant Indian office in Bombay? For people having IQ on the extreme, I'd elaborate. The simple truth is that MNS mafia rule the state and controls everything. The good chance is that the head of the relevant office in Bombay himself is an MNS 'Karsavak', who wouldn't extend Adnan's visa without a nod from his mafia boss. Is there any other explanation apart from this? Would like to know.
@Mia: @Blunt: If you understand English well, would u care to read the article again?
@Blunt: " ... Wlecome to biggest democrazy of the world !!! ... "
Being Muslim and Pakistani automatically entitle you to things such as visas ?
Please do no come to Pakistan. Go somewhere else, UK, America, Israel ... whatever rocks your boat.
@M. Emad: "Adnan Sami’s father Arshad Sami — decorated Pakistan Air Force ex-Fighter pilot — fought 1965 war, killed several Indian pilots & planes in air battles, bomb Indian cities killed many military and civilians. Later he served as the ADC of Generals Ayub and Yahya Khan (and both Bhuttos). I can not understand how Indians Government allow Adnan Sami – a die hard Pakistani cum UAE citizen — to earn in India. Adnan Sami’s music seems hypnotized stupid Indians including Indian Defence ministry high bosses..India may try posting General (r) J. S. Arora’s son / daughter at Indian Embassy in Pakistan. By the way Arshad Sami died in India during his cancer treatment!".
This is the beauty of India. We are not stupid, we rather feel proud that we are this way. Its because of this our Indian culture is still around for 10,000 years. I have no doubt, we will be around as long this earth supports life Why go that back, look at Musharraf of the Kargil fame. We received him also with full respect and honor. No Indian uses mean words for him. just wait for few days, Adnan Sami will get VISA extension and he will remain in India.
ET is turning into a right-wing paper. Modi effect?
If India doesn't want him, he is rich and he can migrate to any country he desires (apart from Pakistan). . He doesn't like us in Pakistan and feeling is mutual.
So this is a surprise. When it comes to extremism Indians dont lag behind anyone.
Why would Adnan Sami go to MNS for request to stay? Shouldn't he approach teh consulate to extend his Visa ? MNS asked him to leave because his Visa expired. What is the extremist angle here? @ET. You recent posts by some of your reporters seems to get published without any moderation. Which is sad and hurts your credibility for unbiased reporting. This form of headlines is mis leading. And many Pakistanis will start commenting even without reading the article to figure out that there is no hindu - muslim or extremist angle to this incident. Its a law of land and common immigration law across the globe to leave country if your visa expired. Simple as that.
@INDIANS: You cannot deny the fact that Hindu extremists exist, just like you can't deny the fact that India has a lack of toilets and it's is a country full of slums which is exporting terrorism to the whole south asia!
so in india these 'senas' decide about visas or their extensions???? Yup as its world's "biggest democracy"
Adnan Sami is a Canadian citizen & was trained in India & Britain. So, stop calling him a "Pakistani musician". In fact, he received his music training from the Santoor Maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.
@BlackJack:
"a political party with a sons of the soil plank and vote base .... where is the extremist angle in this?"
Would you, or any other Indian, please precisely translate the word "Sena". If I am not wrong, it means "Army". One then wonders, why the democratic political parties of the civilized nations do not use words of similar meanings in their party names. The party name always suggests what it represents, or aspires to represent. However, in case of 'Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena', it suggests some kind of terrorist organization like IRA and BLA, or some authoritarian party where the word of the chief is the word of God like in the army. Where is the democratic political party in it?
Unfortunately, the title is completely misleading, albeit, is presented in the same way in the Times of India as well :=(.
I personally would not want Adnan to leave India, as I love his songs. I think, our government should have visa exemptions/exceptions for exceptional talent such as Adnan.
Pakistani wearing the tri colours on his top pocket. Great
Shameful and worthless journalism. Just read the headline and then the content... And You would know that ET can go to any extent to fabricate and misinterpret conent to grab attention and promote hatred agiant India. And then pakistanis keep blaming india for creating war histeria! This is the effect of distorted history books in Pakistan that even the literate bunch in Pakistan behaves as uneducated!!
Hasn't his visa expired ? Should he not have left on his own? Where is the extremist angle in this?
Adnan Sami's father Arshad Sami --- decorated Pakistan Air Force ex-Fighter pilot --- fought 1965 war, killed several Indian pilots & planes in air battles, bomb Indian cities killed many military and civilians. By the way Arshad Sami died in India during his cancer treatment!.

Oh - when did Orya Maqbool Jan become the editor of ET? Only under his wise supervision would the normal expiry of a visa become a communal issue.
He should not be allowed in Pakistan.
“We told Sami that our priority would be our artistes,” Wonder why they don't tell same to Veena Malik?
but he is more india.he dont give a damn about pakistan...
Purely a publicity stunt.
All artist are welcome be it jacqline fernandes from srilanka,eli avaram from russia..or any european actresses or otherwise but India should not allow the artist from neighbouring side till they stop terrorism.....and moreover..ET please dont make an issue..He is a canadian citizen and consider himself Indian...He should apply for Indian citizenship...seriously speaking if he as a pakistani born wants to survive here...we dont have problems with any Indian muslim...but we have problem with pakistani people who support jihaad in world..ET...and india is not a country without rulrs where u will get through by violating a law........if he does he will go to jail like lalu prasad yadav......so just chill........get it through
Yeah, no one cares what the MNS does or does not say, least of all the people of Bombay, but if his visa does expire and he can't get it renewed then, of course, he should leave.
Wlecome to biggest democrazy of the world !!!
ET editors should read the kind of drivel that they publish. Adnan Sami met with the MNS (a political party with a sons of the soil plank and vote base) and they refused to support him in extending his visa - where is the extremist angle in this? The title makes it seem like a bunch of MNS terrorists threatened to kill Sami if he didn't leave India. Shameful journalism.
Oh Please, we are already facing inflation in food price. Keep em in india
Time to pack your luggage. Bye bye 2nd home
