Over 1,400 students attended the second session of the Lahore International Children’s Film Festival (LICFF) at the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) cinema on Wednesday.
The event a collaboration between the DHA administration and the Little Art, an organisation which arranges the festival each year.
Over 1,200 students were present at the opening ceremony on Tuesday.
The three-hour morning shows started at 9:30am. Films screened at the event include animation film Guddu ki guddi and short film Bubble. Students from schools and colleges under the DHA attended the morning session.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Zubair Mushtaq, the coordinator of the festival, said the cinema had a seating capacity of 450.
He said more than 450 viewers had showed up for the morning show on Wednesday.
“We have to accommodate children on stairs,” said Mushtaq.
“These children were not present at the festival at Alhamra last month,” he added.
Over 15,000 children had been present for screenings of more than 90 films, including 11 Pakistani films, at Alhamra.
In a statement, The Little Art said it had partnered with DHA Society Schools for special screenings.
LICFF Director Shoaib Iqbal said, “The expansion of the festival reflects the need for more educational and entertainment opportunities for children.”
Iqbal said such initiatives also indicated a greater acceptance of innovative arts and education for children.
“We aim to provide children with exposure through this platform,” he said.
The festival will end on Saturday.
The organisers are expecting a turnout of more than 7,000 children during the special screenings.
