Weapons and illegal drugs were also seized during these raids which were conducted jointly by Rangers and police officers.
In Lyari, security officers cordoned off the area and started a targeted operation when they were attacked by criminals hiding in nearby houses.
Police retaliated and as a result two of the attackers were killed.
Targeted operation
The Rangers-led cleanup operation started in Karachi after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the metropolitan and devised a strategy to curb violence.
With the provincial government on board, the prime minister gave a go-ahead to Rangers to conduct raids and arrest criminals.
The targeted operation began on September 7 and since then hundreds of suspects have been arrested. The Rangers are leading the operation which, they claim, is being conducted across the city – not just in the political strongholds of one party.

We (Pakistani awam) appreciated this efforts to cleanup Karachi as well as other city of Sindh due to taken stick action Provincial Government of Sindh, an other point we must not forget is that if suspects are arresting and raiding are occurring too then Karachi can't be safe by the hands of other political party killers if they want to clean it up then they have to surrender on All Party Conference.
Tell us how many charged. Were they let off after payments?
PPP & MQM have failed to address Karachi's #1 problem: crime. If the Nawaz league successfully tackles this problem, it will definitely gain a few seats in Karachi.
Appreciated the cleanup operation of government to curb violence. Now i m sure the federal government is on board to finish these criminal activities in Karachi. InshaAllah soon see the city of lights in full form..
