The interior minister while condemning the ban said that he was against the move.
"I will go through the Sindh government's application in favour of the ban to see how much weight it carries," he added.
He said that upon taking charge as interior minister he had also disallowed the suspension of mobile services.
Earlier in the day, the Sindh government decided to ban instant messaging and voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) clients Skype, Viber and other communication networks, including Tango and WhatsApp citing security reasons.
The decision was taken during a meeting between Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and other officials including the additional IG Karachi, DG Rangers and representatives of intelligence agencies.
Law and order situation
The interior minister in a telephonic conversation with Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah discussed the prevalent law and order situation and said that details be disclosed about the arrested suspects.
"The identification of the suspects and their parties will not only create problem in investigation, but provokes some elements; therefore we should keep their identity secrete,” sources privy to the meeting said.

This is insane. The Sind government has proven to be inept and incapable of doing anything so it goes out and makes the people suffer. Why are they not catching criminals and putting them to task rather than coming up with silly suggestions. LOSERS!
why don't administaration start co-operating with these instant messaging apps service providers to have access to the accounts/data transmission trends.
Old, limited, decrepit, pointless, "we have to do something" thinking to new media. While we are at it, lets stop the use of trains, planes and automobiles - terrorists use those too. I say lets get to the root of the problem, lets ban food for three months - that should do it. Nothing permanent. Just enough to kill off the terrorists (and everyone else).
Just because the government cannot fix a broken policing system, lets get all the citizens involved and wreak havoc on businesses and individuals that use these extremely important communication tools. Makes perfect sense. Lets make the economy even worse that what it is. It's only for three months.
Although I hate the ban but I do sense that Govt is now very serious on ongoing targeted operation.
The ban is placed to force "some known unknowns" to come back on regular some what easily traceable / monitored communications links (i.e. Mobile, Telephone, Local Messenger, Courier) so that they (Agencies) can ascertain some findings.
do it quickly but diligently.
