Protesting for colleagues: ‘Lawyers killed to hinder prosecution’
Over 40 lawyers have been killed in targeted attacks in the province since 2007.
KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) said on Monday that the lawyers were being killed in targeted attacks carried out by the terrorists in order to stop lawyers from discharging their professional duties in prosecuting the anti-state elements and terrorists. This stance was taken by the SHCBA members at a general body meeting to condemn the assassination of senior lawyer Naimat Ali Randhawa and injuring of his young son in Friday’s targeted attack. Over 40 lawyers have been killed in targeted attacks in the province since 2007. They were of the opinion that the law enforcing agencies had completely failed to protect the lawyers as well as citizens. “The so-called targeted operation has also failed to maintain law and order in the city.”
