Corruption: Survey reveals 1,383 ghost schools
Survey revealed that there were 3,117 private schools operating in the district.
FAISALABAD:
A survey conducted recently by the Education Department has revealed that there are 1,383 ghost private schools in the district, spokesman Muhammad Ali told media persons on Monday. According to the official records, the Education Department was providing incentives and privileges to 4,500 private schools in the district, he said. The survey was conducted to review educational facilities in schools, he said. It revealed that there were 3,117 private schools operating in the district. “Some officials in the department had registered these schools without visiting the sites,” he said. The department has decided to conduct the survey again and then a departmental inquiry into the registration of such a large number of ghost schools, he said. “Strict action will be taken against officials found guilty of registering the ghost schools for bribes,” Ali said.
