The Islamabad-based diplomats have lauded the understanding and observation of the youth of the global issues around them, says a press release.

They were addressing the delegates of the ‘Diplomatic Moot’ on the second day of the Millenial Model United Nations conference organised by the Roots Millennium School (RMS) which was moderated by Diplomatic Corps Dean, the Ambassador of Argentina as well as other diplomats of Palestine, United States, Sri Lanka and Head of Trade of the European Union Delegation to Pakistan.

The moot was focused on contemporary world contentious issues. The participants had serious and meaningful debates on major issues, especially the conflicts in Middle East.

Dean of Diplomatic Corps Rodolfo J Martin Saravia, Palestinian ambassador Walid Abu Ali, US embassy consul-general Daniel  E. Good Speed, Johan Sorensen Head of Trade, European Union Delegation to Pakistan, Ali Sheikh Abdullahi Deputy Head of Mission, Wijayanthi Edrising Deputy Head of Mission Sri Lankan High Commission with other diplomats attended the event.

The delegates posed various questions to the diplomats asking them to share their expert opinion as to the sensitive core UN agendas.

One Student Irbazul Hassan questioned the ambassadors that the UN has largely played no role in dealing with the world situation relative to what the NATO has been doing.

In this regard, to which the American embassy representative replied that considering the number of members of the UN, it is hard to reach a consensus among such a crowd. On the other hand NATO having fewer and eligible members with the proper resources to deal with crises has been able to play a greater role in the international community.
