ISLAMABAD:

The minimum wage of unskilled workers working in industrial and commercial units in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has been increased from Rs8,000 to Rs10,000 with effect from July 2013.

ICT Chief Commissioner Jawad Paul issued a notification on Wednesday and directed Bashir Ahmed, director projects, industries and labour, to ensure implementation of the minimum monthly wage.

Paul took the decision while exercising the power of Section 4 of the Minimum Wages Ordinance, 1961.

All industrial and commercial units have been directed to comply and special teams have been constituted to implement the order, said Ahmed, adding that stern action would be taken against violators.
