Subversive acts: Grenade attack at central jail

No death or injuries were reported in the incident.

KARACHI: Unidentified men fired a smoke grenade at the Karachi Central Jail on Wednesday afternoon. No death or injuries were reported in the incident. According to New Town DSP, the grenade was fired from a gun from Ghousia Colony, a residential locality behind the prison. Following the attack, the entire area was engulfed in grey smoke clouds. Jail officials said, after the incident, security was beefed up around the jail and officials have been put on high alert. In addition, commandos have been deployed at watch towers. On June 22, two grenades were hurled at the jail from a bridge that overlooks the prison, causing injuries to two police officers.
