MULTAN: This is not just about providing security to Christians. We want the government to extend security to all minority communities in Pakistan, Dr Andrew Francis, bishop of Multan, told the media at a press conference at the Bishop’s House on Tuesday. “The terrorists aren’t targeting a particular minority group, their purpose is to harm Pakistan,” he said, “All communities in Pakistan must stand united to denounce terrorists.” He requested the government to ensure that all places of worship were given the respect and protection due to them. “Our response to the attack on the church in Peshawar is to stand united against terrorism without discrimination of caste, faith or creed,” he said. He requested Christians to remain peaceful and to uphold the dignity and honour of Pakistan. “Protests and demonstrations should be organised but no one should take law in to their own hands,” He said, “We must respect the countless sacrifices of the armed forces and not create disturbances...that will only help the enemies of Pakistan.
