According to residents, the Mirani and Lakhan tribesmen have been disputing over a Suzuki stand for the last 3 years.

A man and woman were killed and three people were injured near the Agha Qadirdad Khan Date Market on Tuesday.


Shahzado Mirani, 25, was working in the date market when a group of armed men opened indiscriminate firing. Shahzado was hit by a bullet and died on the spot while three men - Ajay Kumar, Hazaro Chohan and Imam Bux Chohan - were injured. Later, the same men reportedly broke into Akbar Mehtam’s house near the date market. According to reports, Akbar’s daughter, Kulsoon, tried to flee but the men opened fire, killing her on the spot.

The Rohri police arrested five suspects, identified as Dil Murad Lakhan, Rab Nawaz Lakhan, Shamshad Lakhan, Haq Nawaz Lakhan and Malik Nawaz Lakhan. Malik was also injured in the exchange of fire with the police.

According to the residents, the Mirani and Lakhan tribesmen have been involved in a dispute over a Suzuki stand for the last three years, during which five Mirani tribesmen were killed and many were injured.
