Irritant vendors: CDA yet to act against encroachers

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has to take practical steps to address the encroachments, a source of constant nuisance for the visitors, in G-7 auto markets. The occupying of footpaths and roads by vendors in Chenab and Khadda Auto Market in G-7 has narrowed the roads, causing problem in the smooth flow of traffic. People are also facing immense difficulties in getting their vehicles checked as CDA’s anti-encroachment department has failed to address the issue so far. Visitors complained about the establishment of permanent kiosks by the auto mechanics on footpaths and various corners of the market while the shopkeepers said that due to the encroachments, visitors park their vehicles on the road impeding the smooth flow of traffic in the market. When contacted, a CDA official said they were urging the vendors to either voluntarily remove encroachments or face consequences.
