Captain Misbahul Haq smashed 93 off just 60 deliveries to lead the Faisalabad Wolves to a ten-run consolation win over Kandurata Maroons of Sri Lanka at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali yesterday.

Wolves got off to a struggling start and were reeling at 20 for two when skipper Misbah came to their rescue yet again. His 60-ball blitz, including five sixes and six boundaries, helped the Pakistan Twenty20 champions set a respectable target of 147.

In reply, Kundurata Maroons could only manage 136 for seven in their quota with the only notable performance coming from Kumar Sagakkara’s bat, who scored 44 off 36 deliveries.

Wolves fast-bowler Ehsan Adil impressed, taking three wickets while Imran Khalid claimed a brace.

Misbah, who was adjudged man-of-the-match was satisfied with his team’s performance.

“This team has something to cheer about,” he said, according to ESPNcricinfo. “We were disappointed by our batting but our bowlers did very well.

“We got through many corrections and performed better today [yesterday]. This gives us the belief to perform better in the future.”
