No decision was made during the third meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on the appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Express News reported on Friday.

The opposition leader put forward the name of Justice (retd) Mian Mohammad Ajmal and Sharif did not name anyone.

There will be a meeting tomorrow at 9am to discuss this matter further.

Earlier, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s order, the ministry of Law and Justice had proposed to the prime minister to advise the president to terminate the appointment of Fasih Bokhari as Chairman NAB.

NAB, the country’s top anti-graft watchdog, has almost become dysfunctional after the Supreme Court dismissed the then NAB chairman, Fasih Bokhari, through its May 28 judgment.

During a previous meeting between the PM and the opposition leader, the names of Sardar Raza and Rehman Hussain Jaffri came under discussion but a consensus was not reached.

Previously, the opposition leader nominated Justice (retd) Bhagwandas as a candidate for the post. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in July formally informed Syed Khursheed Shah that Justice (retd) Bhagwandas did not fulfill the mandatory criteria for holding the post of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), since the former judge had recently retired as Chairman Federal Public Service Commission.

@K Alam: Molana Fazlu Rehman would be even better, depending on your criteria.
