MULTAN: Forest conservator Khizar Hayat Minhas said on Wednesday one million saplings would be planted in six districts of the region by December 31. He said the monsoon plantation drive had been expedited in September due to favourable weather conditions. He said about 190,000 saplings had been planted since the end of July. He said saplings of shady trees like sheesham were being planted under the monsoon plantation drive that had formally kicked off in August. He said saplings would be planted in Khanewal, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Lodhran and Vehari and Multan. “The target of 1,070,000 sapling plantation looks achievable,” he said.
