“Lingering crises have put the country on a dangerous path and Muslim Leaguers should unite to effectively tackle the challenges faced by the nation,” Hussain said while speaking to a gathering of PML-Q stalwarts. “The role of our senators and MNAs is praiseworthy and their constant focus should remain on public issues.”
Speaking on the occasion, his cousin Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the achievements of their government were now being widely appreciated at home and abroad. Commenting on the country’s political situation, he said the next two months were very crucial.
PML-Q Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that his party was a national party with roots and representation in all the provinces. He said that district-wise PML-Q conventions will be started from next month, with the first convention to be held in Gujranwala.
Shujaat Hussain said the PML-Q always respected the rulings of the judiciary. He added that relentless efforts were made to break up the PML-Q and he had great respect for the members who stood firm with the party against all odds.
Hussain further said that among other reasons for the nation’s renewed faith in the PML-Q was the fact that none of its members were either NRO beneficiaries or loan defaulters. He congratulated the party members for maintaining unity in their ranks.
Elahi said that there was no constituency or area where the rival PML-N had not played dirty politics. “The N-League is running the province on an ad-hoc basis and the provincial government has already gone bankrupt,” he claimed. “Issuance of bogus cheques to the victims of the Data Darbar suicide bombing, an alarming increase in crimes and poor condition of health and education sectors are the N-League’s gifts to the people of Punjab.”
