Arshad Pappu murder case: Court reserves verdict on bail plea of PPP MNA

MNA Shahjehan Baloch was implicated in the Arshad Pappu murder case.

KARACHI: The Anti-Terrorism Court reserved its verdict on the bail application of Pakistan Peoples Party MNA, Shahjehan Baloch, who has been implicated in the Arshad Pappu murder case, till September 30.

The court also issued notice to the medical superintendent of Lyari General Hospital (LGH) over his failure to shift a wounded suspect from LGH to the Civil hospital.



The defence counsel, Amir Mansoob, told the court that Baloch was falsely implicated in the case as he was in jail on the day of Pappu’s murder. The judge of ATC-II asked the deputy-district public prosecutor to prove why Baloch was nominated in the FIR when he was in jail. The judge also asked the prosecutor to produce relevant records in support of his arguments.

The prosecutor said that the complainant, also the widow of Pappu, had nominated the suspect in the case on abetment charges. Arshad Pappu, his brother, Yasir Arafat, and their confidant, Juma Shera, were killed on the night of March 16.

The court was also told that the Mukhtarkar, who was asked to provide details of the property of the suspects, had requested for more time as the property was under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and he needed more time for correspondence.
