A complete shutterdown strike was observed in Jacobabad, on Tuesday, to protest against the eviction of the bus stand, formerly situated in the city center, which has now been shifted to the outskirts of the city. The strike had been called by the Shahree Ittehad, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, transporters and political parties.
Scores of protesters, carrying placards and banners, raised slogans against the district administration and the police as they marched through the main thoroughfares. Strongly condemning the forcible eviction, the speakers said that a large number of transporters and shopkeepers had been rendered jobless because of the police’s action.
Former MNA Mir Babul Khan Jakhrani had filed a petition in the Sindh High Court’s circuit bench in Larkana, requesting to shift the bus stand from the city center as it was causing traffic jams in the city. The circuit bench had ordered the to remove the bus stand from the city center.
