Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali: Music legend’s wife passes away

Wife of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan succumbs to illness at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario.

LAHORE: Naheed Nusrat, wife of music legend Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, succumbed to illness at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario. The wife of the late maestro had moved to Canada after her husband’s death and was taken ill since the past one month.  Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was an internationally acclaimed Pakistani Qawwali singer. He contributed to and performed in several Pakistani films and later did playback singing for Bollywood movies, too.  He fell ill in 1997 and passed away in London, England. Expressing grief over Naheed Nusrat’s passing, her nephew Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said, “I am extremely sad over Aunt Naheed’s death.”
