Dengue update: Three new cases at Polyclinic this week

175 cases have been reported, 23 have been confirmed at two major Rawalpindi hospitals since the start of the year.

ISLAMABAD: Three cases of dengue fever, of which two are residents of Islamabad, have been reported this week at Polyclinic Hospital, according to sources. Since the turn of the year, 175 suspected cases of dengue fever, of which 23 were confirmed, have been reported at Rawalpindi’s two major hospitals. Dr Javed Hayat, the focal person for Infectious Diseases at Rawalpindi Medical College and the allied hospitals, said 21 of the 23 confirmed cases have been reported at Holy Family Hospital and the remaining two at Benazir Bhutto Hospital. The results of seven cases are still awaited. At least 2,140 confirmed cases of dengue fever dad been reported across the country this year till September 2.
