ISLAMABAD:
The Senate Standing Committee on Communications expressed concern over the appointment of the National Highway Authority chairman, who superceded several senior ranking officers of the authority. The committee observed that it was unfortunate that a junior officer from outside the NHA was chosen as chairman while higher officers in higher grades were ignored. The committee formed a sub-committee to review the appointment and give details of deputations and contract employees in the authority. Communications Secretary and senior officials of the NHA informed the committee that the appointments were being made on merit. Published in The Express Tribune, September 14th, 2013.
