ISLAMABAD: The ongoing financial crunch at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has delayed another of its projects due to insufficient funds: The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration Complex which was to be built in G-11.

The CDA has allocated 10 acres of land in G-11 for this project, which has an estimated budget of Rs72.2 million.

This complex was to house offices of the chief commissioner, deputy commissioner, and SSPs. The complex would also have housed the excise and taxation administrations’ offices.

All these offices are currently in F-8. Nearby shopkeepers have been complaining about enhanced security measures in place for these offices.

However, it does not seem as if their complaints will be heard.

CDA’s Project Director Syed Tanveer Hussain confirmed that the project would be delayed due to insufficient funds. He added that the financial crunch being faced by CDA had forced it to suspend many other development projects as well.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amir Ali Ahmed said that according to the original schedule, the project was to be completed before February 2011.
