Targeting civilians: 20-kg bomb defused in Parachinar

Officials said the high-intensity bomb was intended to target civilians and security forces that patrol the road.

PARACHINAR: A 20-kilogramme bomb planted on the roadside by unidentified militants on the outskirts of Parachinar, headquarters of Kurram Agency, was defused by officials of the bomb disposal squad (BDS) on Thursday.

Kurram Levies official Ali Janan said a pedestrian spotted a suspicious sack on Dandar road and informed political administration officials. Kurram Levies along with security forces rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area and suspended traffic.

Officials said the high-intensity bomb was intended to target civilians and security forces that patrol the road. Kurram Levies launched a search operation but no one was arrested until this report was filed.
