The Sindh government planned to transfer officials of the Karachi police, yet again, but this time the reshuffling will take place on a much larger scale, The Express Tribune learnt on Wednesday.
The provincial government was not satisfied with the current personnel and now, with the transfers, hopes to get breakthroughs in the ongoing ‘targeted’ operations and raids across the metropolis.
According to a senior police official, Sindh Chief Secretary Chaudhry Aijaz Ahmed and Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) Shahid Nadeem Baloch were called at the Sindh Chief Minister House with the summary regarding the reshuffling. A notification is likely to be issued soon.
The top officials of the police, who are likely to be transferred, include the city police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo – who is likely to be replaced by Additional IGP, Special Branch, Shahid Hayat – and police chiefs of all the three districts. Interestingly, Additional IG Traffic Police Zakir Hussain will take Hayat’s position as AIG Special Branch, while Thebo will be posted as Additional IG Traffic Police (in Hussain’s current position). Officials further revealed that massive reshuffling of SPs, DSPs and SHOs will follow as part of the second stage of reshuffling.

sounds like corruption to me, get the really bad out and bring in only the semi-bad officers.
Depoliticise the police is the only measure to curb this political terrorism in Karachi and the efforts of the government in this regard are worth praising. neglecting 14 DIGs and making a low ranked officer ,the head of the operation is a great step. @Saleem:
The shuffling and reshuffling will no work, either fire those political appointees or send them to the Tribal Areas of K-P to maintain peace, they will most likely just fade away and Karachi may become peaceful again. Business community and the common people know exactly who these officers are and how they favor and look the other way when certain ethnic group in Karachi involved in crimes specially target killings. Target killings happen even in London.

There is dire need of transfer of this Government and Army may have controll of the whole Sindh....
The responsibility for degradation of Sind police falls squarely on the shoulders of MQM, PMLQ and PPP rulers who criminally subverted rules for selfish or party political ends to the harm of the common people. These guys should not be allowed to get away with interference in postings, appointments and transfers. Those who have done so by flouting rules should be collared and put behind bars.
For the wadera corruption party Karachi is the place to loot and plunder, besides looting the development funds of Karachi its waderas have also raised and protected Liyari criminal gangs to loot and kill people of Karachi. As long as Karachi remains under wadera rule there's no future for this city
The only way to deal with the mess in Karachi is to put Policing under an elected mayor followed by removal of all the political appointees and last but not the least post someone with the calibre and will power of Shoaib Suddle for the likes of him know where the trouble belongs and breeds.

Mere transfer are not solution of Karachi's problem. Political appointees must be removed and only merit should be considered in selection/promotions.
