TIMERGARA:

Heavy downpour washed away a connecting bridge and two vehicles in Lower Dir district on Sunday.

Traffic constable Azam Khan was on duty in Shamsi Khan area of Talash when he saw two vehicles floating in water as a stream overflowed and water entered a car park nearby.

A connecting bridge was also washed away blocking the Timergara-Peshawar Road for more than four hours and leaving passengers stranded in the rain.

Khan added after the water level decreased around 3pm, they directed the traffic to an alternate route.

In August, flash floods due to heavy monsoon rains claimed the lives of 19 people across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa including two children in Timergara who died due to a landslide.
