Raising awareness: User-friendly device for diabetes diagnosis launched

Stress, work load, random diet habits, wrong medication and a lack of physical activities all contribute to diabetes.

“Diabetes cannot be managed without monitoring the patient’s blood glucose levels regularly,” informed Khalid Qureshi, LifeScan’s country manager.

The fast-paced life style, stress, work load, random diet habits, wrong medication and a lack of physical activities are some of the major reasons for the increasing number of people affected by diabetes in Pakistan, opined veteran Pakistani actress and director, Zeba Bakhtiar.


Addressing the media at the launch of the user-friendly blood glucose monitoring device, OneTouch SelectSimple by LifeScan, on Friday, she disclosed that she had been struggling with diabetes for the last 21 years.“I have learnt to organise my life according to my health requirements. I have also learnt that diabetes is not an ailment - rather, it is a condition that can be managed,” she maintained.  “Diabetes cannot be managed without monitoring the patient’s blood glucose levels regularly,” informed Khalid Qureshi, LifeScan’s country manager. He lamented that one out of every seven Pakistani adults were either suffering from the condition or were on their way to developing it.
