KARACHI:

After being suspended for three days, water supply at the Pakistan Railways’ colonies and stations resumed on Saturday.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) had cut off water supply to the Pakistan Railways Karachi division on Wednesday.

A divisional engineer of Pakistan Railways Karachi said that the supply was restored on Saturday morning but it takes few hours to fill the Railways water reservoirs. “Our payments with the KWSB are complete but they suspended the water supply as our last cheque took two days to process.” KWSB managing director Qutubuddin Shaikh, however, said that the railways have to pay Rs132 million to the KWSB while their latest payment, which was paid two days back, was of Rs8 million only. “We have to wait for the cheque to be approved from the State Bank of Pakistan and we resumed the supply on Friday night when the cheques got cleared from the bank.”
