The administration of Polyclinic Hospital constituted a four-member media committee on Thursday and issued a notification stating that Dr Sharif Astori has been removed as the hospital’s spokesperson.
According to the notification, Deputy Executive Director Dr Shahid Hanif, of BS-19, has been nominated as the spokesperson and will head the new media body which includes assistant executive directors Dr Ghulam Mustafa Solangi , Shahzad Akram, Dr Khurram and Dr Tanveer Afsar Malik, the medico-legal officer.
Talking to The Express Tribune Afsar Malik said the reason behind constituting the media committee is to maintain a constant liaison between members of the press and the hospital to ensure the uninterrupted flow of accurate news.
“It is not easy for one person to communicate with the media around the clock,” he said, adding that two members of the committee would be available during the morning shift and two in the evening shift.
He said that Dr Zahid Hussain, who assumed charge as Polyclinic’s executive director a few months ago, constituted the committee.
