SUKKUR:

Two police officials of Thull police station were sent to jail for criminal negligence that led to the escape of three accused men from the police station on Wednesday night.

About five days ago, Shahzado Buriro, Shabaan Buriro and Bali Buriro, were arrested in a theft case. On Wednesday night, all three accused managed to escape by breaking the roof of the lockup even though head constable Abdul Ghani Mahar and constable Azad Noonari were on duty in the night shift. Taking serious notice of the officers’ negligence, Jacobabad SSP ordered the registration of case against the two responsible police officers. In accordance with the directions given, the two constables were arrested and locked up after an FIR was registered.

The SSP has also suspended and transferred SHO Mohammad Sharif Brohi and has appointed Abdul Hameed Khakhrani in his place. When The Express Tribune contacted Thull police station, an official, Bashir Naseerani, said the accused fled while taking advantage of a power outage.
