To stay up to date: SALU opens up a training centre for its teachers

Centre will enable teachers to keep up to date with their field and learn the newest pedagogical approaches.

Shah Abdul Latif University (Salu), Khairpur, has set up a professional development centre.


On the establishment of the centre, Salu vice-chancellor Dr Parveen Shah stated that professional development is an integral part of teacher’s education since only continuous learning and training helps the teachers’ knowledge up to date.

Dr Shah stressed that the centre will enable the teachers keep up to date knowledge about their field, as well as, learn the newest pedagogical approaches, which are adjusted to the needs of the 21st century. She said that teachers at the campus and in affiliated colleges will avail the opportunity to develop professionally and improve their classroom skills. The centre would carry out various capacity-building and refresher courses for the teaching faculty.

The director planning and development, Prof Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, apprised the vice-chancellor of her efforts in getting the sponsors to organise teachers training workshops. The workshops and trainings will include online material, courses, which would be easily accessible and cost efficient.

The vice-chancellor has appointed Dr Abdul Manan Shaikh, the in-charge of the department of zoology, as the coordinator of the centre and has directed him to organise a training workshop for the newly appointed teachers as soon as possible.
