BANNU/ JAMRUD: At least 16 people were injured in two bomb blasts in Jamrud and Bannu areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, Express News reported.

The first blast reportedly occurred inside a Nato container near Karkhano market in Jamrud. The explosion left two people injured.

Bannu

The blast in Bannu took place opposite a cloth shop, located near a local girl’s school in the area of Zargara market.  Around 14 people including four men and 11 primary school girls were injured.

The bomb went off at the end of the school day as pupils walked into a street lined with fabric shops in the north western town of Bannu, which has been a flashpoint for militancy.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but militants frequently attack girls' schools – usually when the buildings are empty in the evening or during the holidays.

The police have taken control of the area. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital in Bannu.
