‘Corporal Punishment’: Teacher breaks student’s arm

The girl’s mother accused Bhatti of beating up her daughter.

SARGODHA: An eighth class student has her arm broken allegedly by her class teacher on Wednesday. The teacher said that the girl’s arm was broken following a fight with the class monitor. Police quoted the teacher, Zahra Bhatti, as saying that the girl, a student of Government Girls High School Gullwala, was beaten up for disrupting the class. When the class monitor stopped her, she said, the girl misbehaved and was beaten up by a stick. Bhatti said she was not in the class at the time the two girls fought. She said she informed her parents and took her to a hospital. The girl’s mother accused Bhatti of beating up her daughter. Police said they had not received a formal complaint.
