LAHORE:

A judge has sought comments from the Factory Area SHO on a petition seeking a case against five traffic policemen who allegedly snatched Rs5,000 from the petitioner whilst drunk.

Muhammad Shehzad submitted that on August 30, he and two friends were approached at the roadside by a traffic police car carrying Inspector Amanullah and wardens Ehsan, Rashid, Zulfiqar and one other.

Shehzad said the policemen were clearly drunk. The inspector, he said, instructed the wardens to search him and his friends. They allegedly took out his wallet, containing Rs5,000, and handed it to Inspector Amanullah. The inspector, he said, commented that the money was enough for the policemen to have some mutton karahi.

He said that the policemen threatened to register a fabricated case against them if they made a fuss.
