ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan announced on Tuesday that his party is ready to give substantive proposals for creating peace in Karachi if the government is seriously resolved towards cleansing the port city of criminal elements.

"PTI stands committed to working for peace and order in Karachi with all forces committed to achieving this end," said the PTI chief. "Leave aside political party compulsions and tackle all burning problems with determination."

Khan said Karachi has bled for over two decades, and criticised successive governments for having neither the capability nor the political will to resolve these issues.

"Time has come to address these problems through a fresh and revolutionary approach," he observed.

Some of the proposals PTI is known to suggest are the depoliticisation of police and the extermination of militant wings bred by political parties.

Imran Khan also said that PTI was unable to participate in the meeting on Karachi's security chaired by the Prime Minister because the party's leadership was never informed of the meeting officially. Hence, the party could not send over its delegates.
