RAWALPINDI: Former MNA Malik Shakeel Awan of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has submitted a request to declare Awami Mulslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed as ineligible as MNA on Monday, Express News reported.

The request has been submitted to the Election Tribunal.

Awan stated that Rasheed made unnecessary expenditures during his general election campaign and also misstated his asset possession.

“He was also involved in rigging activities in NA-55 on May 11,” said Awan.

On May 11, Rasheed won from NA-55, Rawalpindi 6 constituency. He garnered a vote count of 27,152 as opposed to Awan’s 5,577, winning by a sizable majority.
