Around five gunmen, riding on three motorcycles, barged into the clinic of Dr Ghulam Sarwar Dahiri, located in Bhains Colony and opened indiscriminate fire, Shah Latif police station SHO Ali Hassan Shiekh told The Express Tribune.
Seven people were wounded in the attack who were driven to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JMPC). However, three of them died before reaching the hospital, and a fourth one died during treatment.
Citing preliminary investigations, SHO Sheikh said some personal feud triggered the attack. However, he added that the clinic owner, Dr Dahiri, and his son were said to be members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Karachi Muzafati Organising Committee.
In other violence, gunmen attacked a homeopathic clinic in the Landhi neighbourhood, killing one Dr Syed Tahir Hussain, while a young man was shot dead at Mavashah graveyard. Police shifted the body to a morgue for identification after autopsy. The police blamed the Lyari gangsters for the youth’s killing.
