The tremors caused panic in the city and many buildings have been evacuated.
The earthquake was also felt in parts of Indian Punjab.
According to the MET department, the quake was of 4.6 magnitude and originated in northern parts of India.
Many people from Lahore also tweeted about the quake:

Only in Lahore and nearby areas? This is god telling the people of the area to wake up.
Not to worry. This is only tremor. Pak has been going thru earthquakes called terrorism for the last 10 years.
God wake up call to riwand people to take action!
