Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch on Tuesday ordered quashing of an FIR registered against a news channel under the anti terrorism act and ordered an inquiry to know who is responsible for the filing of the case.

However, the case launched against the journalist would be checked step by step, if it was not registered by the order of Supreme Court, it would be taken back too, he said. “The provincial government believes in the dignity of judiciary and freedom of press,” he said addressing the provincial assembly after journalists had boycotted the session.

The chief minister apologised to the management of the news channel and said it all happened because of misunderstanding. Dr Malik also put responsibility on the said news channel for its excesses with freedom of press. The news channel criticised the provincial government without any evidence, he said.

Why can't ET mention the name of the news channel.. is their urge to not promote their competitors greater than their responsibility to give us facts and information?

Why there is so much uproar for an FIR? If the FIR is not correct, it will be discharge by higher courts, simple! Are these media houses above than law?
