Cause Of Death?: UTP dies in jail

KARACHI: A district and sessions court issued, on Tuesday, a notice to the jail administration in connection with the death of an under-trial prisoner (UTP) who died on Monday in Central Jail.

Shagufta Siddiqui, an additional district and sessions judge in district West, issued notice to the jail administration, directing them to submit a reply over the death of Ashtaman, son of Azizur Rahman.

Ashtaman died in a hospital in the prison where he was being treated for tuberculosis and hepatitis, according to court officials.

The court officials said that Ashtaman was sent on judicial remand in a case a few months ago.
