Alhamra Art Gallery: Calligraphy exhibition begins on 27th

The exhibition will continue till August 29.

LAHORE: A calligraphy exhibition by Ghazanfar Abbas Atif will open on August 27 at the Alhamra Art Gallery. Government College University Vice Chancellor Khaleequr Rehman will unveil 50 calligraphy pieces. The exhibition will continue till August 29.  Atif has used several writing styles including suls, nastaliq, Lahori Nastaliq and Nasakh. Talking to The Express Tribune Atif said, “I am looking forward to seeing students, senior artists and enthusiasts at the exhibition. Hopefully, art collectors will like my work.” Tanya Suhail, the curator of the Alhamra Art Gallery, said the gallery was committed to supporting traditional art. She said, “We hardly see calligraphy many exhibitions except during Ramazan. Calligraphy is a dying art in the region.” Law Minister Rana Sanaullah will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the exhibition.
