By-polls: Chief secretary calls for security

The chief secretary directed the commissioners and deputy commissioners to extend their cooperation.

KARACHI: The chief secretary, Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry, has called for comprehensive security measures during the by-elections slated for August 22. In a press statement on Monday, he  directed the IGP to ensure security at the election. The chief secretary stressed that security steps should be in coordination and collaboration between the law enforcement agencies, the Election Commission of Pakistan and other relevant organisations to ensure transparent, free and fair by-election. He further directed the commissioners and deputy commissioners to extend their cooperation and monitor the process.
