Corruption: Court staffer, cop caught taking bribe

The action was taken on a complaint filed by Fazal Azeem two weeks ago.

The Anti Corruption Establishment on Sunday arrested a court official and a police officer for taking a bribe.


The action was taken on a complaint filed by Fazal Azeem two weeks ago. In the application to the ACE Regional Director Babar Amaan, the petitioner said that he owned a house in Factory Area in Lahore. He said he used the house as a warehouse. He said that one Safdar Iqbal had illegally occupied his house. He said when he went to the Factory Area police station for file a complaint, the Sub Inspector Muhammad Sharif demanded Rs15,000, which he said he paid.

He said the policeman later demanded Rs50,000 to be given to Muhammad Sharif, a naib qasid at a court in Sargodha.

On Sunday, Sargodha Circle Officer Chaudhry Tanveer Amjad and Magistrate Ahsanul Haq caught the SI and the naib qasid receiving Rs50,000. The two men will be produced before a court on Monday (today).
