Flood relief: CM directs officials to remain on high alert

Rs100 million have been released for relief and rehabilitation, says CM.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday directed divisional commissioners and district administrations to remain on high alert and monitor rivers and water channels.

He was presiding over a meeting to review flood relief arrangements. Ministers, special assistants, the chief secretary, senior members of the Board of Revenue and senior officials of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Rescue 1122 and other departments were present at the meeting.

The chief minister said spurs, canals and water channels should be strengthened. He said relief activities had begun in Rajanpur, Mianwali, Jhang, Faisalabad, Kamoke and Sialkot and rehabilitation work for the affected people was in full swing.

He said Rs100 million had been released for relief and rehabilitation. He said that people should be immediately evacuated from high-risk villages.
