Police encounter: Proclaimed offender shot dead during raid

The official said they recovered Akhtar’s body in a wheat field and also seized two hand grenades and weapons.

A proclaimed offender was killed in an encounter with the Swabi police early Saturday. DPO Mian Saeed said the culprit identified as Saeed Akhtar, a resident of Parmoli, was allegedly involved in an attack on a police van that killed two police officials and injured four others.


The attack occurred at around 12:45am on Friday when unidentified militants opened fire at the van in Parmoli area.

On a tip off, the police conducted a raid that resulted in a shootout in Shawa area. The DPO said three gunmen opened fire at them, adding an accomplice of the accused managed to escape and the police is searching for him.

The official said they recovered Akhtar’s body in a wheat field and also seized two hand grenades and weapons.
