Environment: ‘Lahore must be pollution free’

Khanzada said bio-remediation pilot project should be started immediately.

Minister for Environment Protection Shuja Khanzada said on Friday the government wanted to free the city from pollution and a number of projects were being considered for this purpose.


He was presiding over a review meeting of the River Ravi Commission.

The minister said that commission’s recommendations should be finalised within one week so that the work could be started.

Khanzada said bio-remediation pilot project should be started immediately.

Commission members told the minister the suggested bio-remediation project cold be built on 50 acres near Babu Sabu.

The minister said the project should be finalised. He sought the assistance of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) for this purpose. He said all stakeholders should be taken on board for the project so that no complications arise.

Why only Lahore be polution free, why not all major cities?
