A heavy barrage of firing by Indian troops “along the Line of Control” on Thursday left at least six civilians injured, as the faceoff between forces of the two countries entered their second week.
Military sources said that without provocation Indian troops violated the LoC ceasefire at the Kotli sector twice on Thursday.
The firing, which started at 4:30am, continued till midday and injured six civilians – including two young girls – on the Pakistani side of the LoC, they told The Express Tribune.
On the other hand, Indian Army officials claimed three soldiers had been injured and a civilian on the Indian side was killed in shelling by Pakistan along the Balakot region of the LoC.
The latest border clashes were triggered by Indian claims that Pakistan troops ambushed its outpost at LoC, killing five Indian soldiers last week. However, Islamabad strongly denies the charge.
Since then the two armies have continued to exchange fire at the LoC, a temporary border that divides Kashmir.
Earlier this week, the National Assembly passed a resolution denouncing ‘unprovoked Indian aggression along the Line of Control’, the mob attack on Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in New Delhi, demonstrations outside PIA offices in India, the prevention of the Dosti bus in Amritsar and the ‘vilification’ of Pakistan in the Indian media.
In a tit-for-tat move, the Indian Parliament on Wednesday passed a resolution asserting that the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir “including the territory under occupation of Pakistan is and shall always be an integral part of India.”
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, meanwhile on Wednesday, called for the de-escalation of tensions with neighboring India, saying Pakistan would respond to the ongoing situation with ‘restraint and responsibility.’
All Parties Hurriyat Conference declared strike in Indian held Kashmir. Authorities imposed stringent measures to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations on the country’s 67th Independence Day. Mobile phone services remained suspended.

The root cause seems to be the terrorists training camps on the Pakistani side. When the trained terrorists (Freedom fighters for most Pakistanis) try to enter Indian side, someone fires. Indians may fire to prevent the terrorists' entry, Pakistan army tries to give them cover to prevent Indian army's attempt to shoot intruders. Once started, the each party has a justification to continue.
Embarrassed me the resolution's contents, this view of which expressed in the resolution recently passed by the Indian parliament has flared up the tention that is already unleashed and growing.
Where is Indian hue and cry regarding the peace, all are proved baseless slogans , in fact they have different ideas which is opened by their resolution.
They want peace? no they do not want peace, they want as has been said in the resolution by them they claimed of entire state they want Jummu and Kashmire, including territory under occupation of Pakistan is and shall always be an integral part of India
This is their intention,Pakistan's leadership must note it and never disregard the efforts being made to make them real friend has lost its importance due to Indian aggressive behave.
According to my personal view, sincer efforts does not go waste in fact sincer efforts has not been made yet. The role, being played by the powers like United Nations and the States still not admireable as some concerned quarters saying lip service is not enough because matter is sensitive going on between nuclear neighbouring states.
Till today flexibility has been shown by our newly elected democratic leadership no positive respons was given to India.
In fact, our prime minister want peace he want peaceful and delightful bilateral relations with our neighbor India because war is not a solution of any issue or problem.
But patience has limits,India leadership and opposition political parties must be careful shouldn't cross the limits otherwise they would have to face total reponsibility appeared ahead
@dawood: Indian propaganda = India's ceasefire violation
Pakistani newspapers count injured as dead... lol
why headline different from news?????? dead or injured???? true or false??? all world confused on pakistani news.
If it really is being reported as it is .. i.e. India firing twice a day and injuring our population and our army is practicing 'restraint' .. then we deserve it. When you don't show any guts, you SHOULD suffer.
Dear ET, It's to bring to your notice that headline of this article is wrong. It should be six civilian injured, not six civilian dead. That's what mentioned in the article. Please fix it.
Sow the wind reap the whirlwind.
Correct your headline ET. Six people injured not dead as per detailed news.
Sow the wind reap the whirlwind
Irresponsible journalism. The title says 6 dead, the content says 6 injured.
@ET, Six civilian injured, not killed. Your headline doesn't match with the content of the report. Correction would be appreciated.
lie's also has limit! how 6 dead in headline become 6 injured in news.
pakistani ceasefire violation = India's retaliate, case dismissed.
