SUKKUR:

Five people arrested over their alleged involvement in printing fake appointment orders, education degrees and other documents, were remanded in police custody for seven days by a Larkana senior civil judge on Thursday.

Two of the suspects were arrested on Tuesday when the Larkana police conducted a raid at a printing press on a tip-off.

Larkana Crime Branch DSP Perwez Mithyani reportedly found a large number of fake appointment orders, education degrees and other fake documents and sealed the press office. The arrested men were identified as Mehboob Bhutto and Saeed Ansari, while the owner of the press, Maqbool Bhutto, managed to escape.

After receiving information from the suspects, the police conducted multiple raids in parts of the city and arrested three more people - a teacher of High School Sajawal Junejo, Mukhtiar Jamali, and two clerks of Qamber High School, Abdul Karim Tagar and Riaz Sangi. The police claimed to have found fake education certificates, medical fitness certificates, verification certificates, fake appointment orders and other documents, from their possession.

Talking to the media on Wednesday, DSP Mithyani said that the accused had been duping people for a long time by selling them fake documents. He added that during the raid at the printing press, the police also found fake appointment orders and service cards of DSPs in the police department, FIA and Railways.

According to him, such a large-scale scam could not take places without the support of “influential” people. As part of the ongoing investigation, raids are being conducted in Karachi for the arrest of the owner of the printing press, Maqbool Bhutto. The police have also recovered a car from the possession of the accused, Riaz Sangi. The car, said police, belongs to a man Ramzan, son of Samandar Khan, who is wanted by the Jackson police in Karachi for 40 murder cases.
